C. Shawn Jones is a member of the Illinois Bar and Georgia Bar who has practiced law for more than 15 years.
Shawn Jones believes the law is a tool to help people and businesses resolve disputes and solve problems – not to help attorneys charge enormous fees.
The goal of his law practice is to find the best possible resolution to your legal issues, in a timely manner, while charging a fair price for his counsel and expertise.
Shawn Jones graduated from the Georgia State University College of Law in 1997. He was an Assistant Editor of the Law Review and tutored first year students in Civil Procedure.
Shawn has practiced general and business law, touching on dozens of subjects including employment law, domestic relations, and eminent domain. His primary focus has been on assisting small businesses in all their legal needs.
He has conducted full jury trials, negotiated with IRS auditors, conducted arbitrations, and prepared statements for and met with the EEOC, and prepared wills and estate plans. He has closed countless real estate and business transactions, both commercial and residential, as well as business loans.
He was admitted to the Georgia State Bar in 1997 and the Illinois State Bar in 2006. He was also admitted to practice in Federal Tax Court and the Federal District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia.
Shawn Jones attended law school at night. To pay for his education, Shawn worked as a janitor, carpet cleaner, dishwasher, bookstore clerk, paralegal, and professional writer. This gave him a wealth of real-world experience he believes helps him better understand the needs of his clients.
Since 2008, Shawn has been a part-time reporter for the Evanston Roundtable, covering political campaigns and elections, city government, crime, and Evanston City Council meetings as well as sports, society, and culture.
Shawn is an active member of the Evanston community and is raising his family in Evanston. Shawn is running for Alderman of the Evanston 9th Ward in 2017. He earned a BA in English from Oberlin College in 1989.
